oh what a joyful time to serve.

Hi family!

I hope you all had an amazing week!! Kansas City definitely did! These
week has been amazing and full of miracles! I am learning so much
about faith and my Savior. I love Him.

We are starting to teach this man named Scott this week! He is
amazing. We are teaching the cutest old people ever.. And actually,
only old people. Haha, it's so fun! I met Scott on exchanges a couple
of weeks ago and we felt like we needed to call m to set up an
appointment with him. He said we could come over and we did. Those 60
minutes, I felt like I was in a dream. He was telling us of
experiences he has had in his past. He has died twice on the operating
table and he told us of his experiences. He knows that God is real and
is a loving God and that whatever is after this life is peaceful. He
told us of how every time he prays to know why he was allowed to come
back to this life, he feels as if there is a purpose for him here that
he hasn't fulfilled yet. (Cue us missionaries grinning from ear to
ear) We taught him about the Spirit World and shared with him these
scriptures in the Book of Mormon.

"11 Now, concerning the state of the soul between death and the
resurrection--Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that
the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal
body, yea, the spirits of all men, whether they be good or evil, are
taken home to that God who gave them life.
12 And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of those who are
righteous are received into a state of happiness, which is called
paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest
from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow." (Alma
40:11-12)

He was comforted so much to hear these truths he had felt in the past
again. I love the knowledge we have from the Book of Mormon. I know
that after this life, we truly do live again. And that we will be
perfected and have the opportunity to live with our Heavenly Father if
we choose to. The amazing thing is that we can choose that NOW! I know
that as we live the gospel of Jesus Christ with our best effort, we
will experiment a fullness of joy in the eternities. THAT is what this
life is about. That is why I am on a mission and why I choose to live
the way that I live. The eternal perspective that the gospel brings
into our lives and that we are continuing to expand is priceless to
me.

Ah!! I love this gospel!!!! My companion and I listened to a talk that
I want to invite ALL of you to read. It's called "What is the
blueprint of Christ's church" by Tadd R. Callister.
http://www.lds.org/broadcasts/article/ces-devotionals/2014/01/what-is-the-blueprint-of-christs-church?lang=eng

It is so good! I am so grateful to be apart of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Other highlights of the week include:

Sister Hixon and I went to a baptism for the Hill Park Ward. The
adorable family that I was teaching a couple months ago, the two girls
got baptized!!!! It was such a special day. And it was a fun reunion
to see all the members in Hill Park that we hadn't seen in a while.

We also got to go out to lunch with Sister Allan.. Or Elise.. on
Saturday! Haha. She came back to go to a sealing for a family in one
of the wards she served in. It was so fun!

Church. As always. It was branch conference for YSA, which was amazing!

Transfers are on Thursday!!! The past 6 weeks have flown by so fast!!!
Oh also! Elder Stevenson is coming to our mission in a couple weeks so
we are pumped for that!!

I just absolutely love being a missionary. It brings me the greatest
joy. Getting to proclaim the truths of Christ's gospel to others is a
miracle. I love you all so much and I hope you have a great week.
Remember that you are loved.

tender mercies of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We got tracked down by a Jehovah's Witness during studies one morning. That was awkward... Poor guy too, it was so windy that morning, that when he tried to open the screen door to give us his brochure, we think it smacked him in the face. He was really nice though!

Our adorable investigators, John and Linda, took us out to eat at Golden Corral last PDAY. They are progressing SOOO much!

And.. That's it for this week!

I love you all so much! I hope you have a great week this next week! Remember, this church is true!

Sister Morgan Family!

Where do I even start?! This week flew by! It was such a great week.
No one got baptized. We weren't able to get that many lessons. We lost
contact with one of favorite investigators who was on date for
baptism. I struggled with the typical questions of how I can be better
and if I am even progressing. It was super hard to find new
investigators. And I was even very sick for about a day and a half!

So I know that may not sound like a "great" week but it was. I have
learned so much this week about how life really is this week, and
especially yesterday. I am learning what the Atonement of Jesus Christ
really is and how it affects me on a daily basis. In short, my sabbath
was truly a delight.

I want to share an experience with you all that I am not proud of at
all but that I learned so much from in hopes that you will be able to
recognize slightly more how real repentance really is.

So to start off, some background on mission rules that we have to
follow in order to remain obedient and really to show the Lord we love
Him and we are willing to do this work how He would have us do it. As
missionaries, we have to be home by 9:00pm, unless teaching a lesson,
in which, we must return by 9:30pm. We also have to stay within our
area, unless we get permission from our leaders to leave it.

My companion and I had left our correlation meeting with our Ward
mission leader's house Saturday night at 8:25pm or so and were headed
back to our house (a 30 minute drive). Our Ward mission leader lives
on the very edge of our area and as we drive back, we drive on the
road that borders our zone and another zone. And guess what building
is on the other side of the road that isn't our area? Krispy Kreme. So
with about 3 minutes extra to spare to make it home on time, we
rationalized our decision to go through the drive thru and get a dozen
donuts for breakfast the next day. As we were in the drive thru, I
just felt a sinking feeling. Not a "you need to leave now to stay
safe" feeling but just a feeling of "really? This is what you are
choosing right now?" We got our donuts, headed home as fast as we
could and made it home by 9:00pm on our car clock, but 9:01 on our
phone clock. This isn't an experience where the Lord chastened us
quickly to teach us the importance of obedience by us getting in an
accident on the way home or an investigator not getting baptized the
next day, or one of us getting sick that night. Really, the main
consequence for that act of disobedience was the Spirit left me. No, I
wasn't depressed the next week of my life or crying all night. I just
wasn't as happy as I am when I am more obedient. Now, this may seem
like not a big deal at all. So what? We got home a minute late to get
donuts on our way home. We drove on the other side of the street out
of our boundary. So what? Well, we teach people every day about the
commandments of God and something I know for a surety is that when we
keep the commandments of God with exactness, we are blessed. I know
that.

Now to the lesson I learned. Guys, repentance is real. I know this
seems like such a childish way to learn these lessons but we are God's
children. He is always trying to teach us important valuable spiritual
lessons. We just need to be willing to learn and apply. As I went to
church on Sunday, I came with a sincere desire to be forgiven. I
pleaded with the Lord before Church and while the sacrament was being
passed to really feel if the sanctifying feeling of repentance. That
cleansing feeling. I wanted to strengthen my personal testimony of
repentance. I wanted to be able to teach others about the sacrament
and repentance with that personal conviction. When we are baptized, we
are cleansed of all our sins, but when we partake of the sacrament
with repentant hearts, we are cleansed again. And again. And again.
Each week. It is one of the most precious parts of this gospel to me.
During sacrament, I remembered what the Savior went through in order
to allow that forgiveness to take place and I had an increasingly
stronger desire to be better. To be more obedient. To try harder. To
be better. To serve Him more. To love Him more. To love others more.
To judge less. To pray more sincerely. I know that our Savior loves
us. I know that He cares about us and wants us to keep His
commandments so He can bless us. I was blessed greatly yesterday. In
the sacrament prayers, we are promised that if we will always remember
Jesus Christ, we will "have His Spirit to be with us". I know that is
true. The Spirit I received during those 6 hours of church was enough
to make me feel like I could do anything in the world. I was skipping
with joy inside. Those feelings were so real! We went to go visit a
less active member after church and after talking with him for a
while, he looked at me and gave me one of the best compliments I have
ever received. He said, "you for some reason have such a Spirit about
you, there is a special light in you". That is the difference
everyone. It's hard to describe, but long long long story short, I am
grateful for the sacrament. I am grateful for my Savior and I am
grateful for the loving plan that our Father in Heaven has for all of
us to return to Him. That plan is through faith in His Son and
repentance. It is so real. I know that repentance is real for small
sins and big sins. Sin is sin and we must be forgiven of and cleansed
from all of it in order to live in the presence of God after this
life.

You all are probably sick of reading this email by now, so I'll just
quickly wrap up the rest of my week previous to that experience.

We went on exchanges with the sisters in Sedalia, MO. It was super
fun! Cute little town. I forgot to get a picture with cute Sister
Rollins because that was the beginning of the before mentioned day and
a half of being sick. But I learned so much from her!

I made a deal with our bishop that I will take his dog home with me
when I finish my mission. #Abe

God is good.

Hello family!

Happy late Valentine's Day!! I had such a great Valentine's Day. I
have already expressed my love for the sabbath but this last Sunday
was so special to me. The speaker in our YSA branch spoke on charity
and it was so amazing to really take that time to ponder and feel the
love that our Savior has for us. I am always brought back to the
popular scripture in John. "For God so loved the world that He gave
His only Begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish
but have everlasting life." Doesn't that scripture say it all?! God,
our Heavenly Father, loves us so much. With a perfect love. How
grateful I am for Him and the perfect plan that He has laid out for
us. God is so good.

Anyways, my week was so good! And so busy! Sister Hixon and I went on
two almost back to back exchanges this week. I stayed in KC for both
of them and was so exhausted after them. My sweet companion has got to
be so done with packing and leaving the area so much. She's a
rockstar.

The first exchange, I was with Sister Crockett. She has been out for
14 months and is serving in Warrensburg right now. She is amazing! I
learned so much on the exchange from her. We had an awesome lesson
that night with this kid named Marteeno. He is 17 and got baptized a
couple years ago. I had never met him but he called us earlier that
day and asked us if we could meet because he had a lot of questions
about God. This kid is awesome! It helped all of us know our Father in
Heaven better. He loves us so much! Also, when we were together, we
had to take a bathroom break at a gas station. There was a Book of
Mormon in the side of the car door and when I was getting out, I just
felt prompted to bring it with me for some reason. As we were walking
out, I was praying that we would be able to talk to someone who I
could share it with, and then, we met Scott! He is the cutest old guy
ever (along with the other two adorable old men we met later in the
week. Haha. It was the week of cute old men this week!) we invited
him to read the introduction page tonight, and he thought we meant
right then so opened it up and started reading! Haha so adorable.
Sister Crockett grabbed the car keys and snuck away to the car to get
a card with our number on it. Haha, he never even noticed she left!!
Missionary work is so fun.

The next exchange I went on, I was with Sister Olesen! She is amazing
as well! She is one of the VC leaders, so it was just way fun! I felt
bad because all of our appointments fell through the that night, but
we tried about everyone and their mom who we could think of! We met
this adorable old British man whose wife is a less active member. It
was so hard to stop ourselves from speaking in a British accent when
we were talking with him. Haha. We also got proposed to by this man
out in the city. Lol. He kept asking us if we were married and we
responded with "we're missionaries!" He kept getting frustrated
because he thought we weren't understanding his question and wasn't
realizing that that was his answer. We just kept swiftly walking to
our car. Haha #KClife. We also had a lesson with sweet Hirey. She is
so amazing. Since she has been reading the Book of Mormon, she has
been experiencing so many miracles! Her memory is starting to come
back too! If you look behind us in the picture I attached, you can see
her surgery pictures. She is recovering from a brain tumor. The Book
of Mormon truly does have a power.

One last story, we called a man named Rick last week. It is someone
the elders had found before they took the elders out of our area. We
wanted to follow up with him to see if he had read any of the Book of
Mormon that we had dropped off to him. And he said he had! He said
that the more he reads, the more he thinks that it may actually be
true! We died of happiness in the car when we heard that! Yes Rick! It
is true! We invited him to come on a church tour with us on Thursday
and he said yes. We answered some of his questions about the Book of
Mormon and the church and talked to him about the Spirit and kingdoms
of glory. He is so amazing! The most prepared person I have met to
receive this gospel. That whole appointment was straight out of the
district (the missionary trading in videos FYI)! Sister Hixon and I
just walked out of the lesson in complete shock, pretty much skipping
through the halls out of the church. We couldn't believe what had just
happened. It is an absolute thrill to see the Spirit teach others the
truths of life and for them to accept it.

This work is amazing. I love it so much. I hope that you all are able
to see the happiness that this gospel can bring into the life of
everyone because it truly can change lives. It doesn't matter what
trials we go through in to life, if we rely on the Lord, all is well.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this quote from Howard W. Hunter: "If our lives and
our faith are centered on Jesus Christ and his restored gospel,
nothing can ever go permanently wrong. On the other hand, if our lives
are not centered on the Savior and his teachings, no other success can
ever be permanently right"
I know that is so true. With Christ and this gospel in our lives,
nothing can permanently go wrong in our lives.

I love you all so much! I hope you are having a great February! Can
you believe we have general conference in less than two months?!?! I
can't wait!

All my love,
Sister Morgan

Re: Exchange week 1 .. Of many!

Hello family!

This week was crazy and amazing!!

Before I get into what has been happening this week.. I just want to
tell you all how the Sabbath is truly a delight! I love Sunday. Sister
Hixon and I go to 7 or more hours of church every Sunday... So never
will I ever think 3 hour church is long again, but this is seriously
such a blessing and a tender mercy for me. In MLC (Mission Leadership
Council... Which is awesome, I'll talk later about that), we were
invited to go to church on Sunday and pray beforehand and ask Heavenly
Father a specific question we wanted answered or pray for personal
revelation. It was seriously the best experience. There were so many
things that the Spirit taught me as I went into church searching for
revelation. I know that church attendance is so important in our
progression. Not only is the sacrament ordinance and meeting the
holiest ordinance in the church, but the Spirit that is at church and
that we are promised when we take the bread and the water can guide us
and direct us in our lives for our coming week, and future. I love
church and especially the sacrament meeting. It is a delight! Fast and
testimony meetings are the best also. Don't ever ignore a prompting
out of bear your testimony. I learned so much from the Spirit as
others bore their testimony on prayer, the Book of Mormon, the Spirit,
and most importantly, our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that He lives
and that He loves us and knows us perfectly. I know that it is only
through Him that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father
forever with our families. That knowledge is the sweetest, most
delightful knowledge I can imagine.

If you haven't attended an LDS church service before, I would invite
you to attend one this Sunday. Go in with a question in mind. I
promise you that you will receive an answer. {maps.lds.org - type
in your address and go}

So onto this week..
We had MLC! My very first one! Haha They are seriously the best. I
gave a training on Faith in Jesus Christ at MLC! Which was so
intimidating. Haha, I thought lots of people gave trainings at MLC..
But turns out, it was just me, and of course, the assistants and
President. But it was good! I learned so much about faith as I was
preparing for it. As we were reviewing from the Worldwide Missionary
Broadcast to prepare for MLC, I kept thinking of what Elder Bednar
said of faith. "Faith is a principle of action and power". As we have
faith in Jesus Christ, we are led to act. To change. To repent. That
action is so needed! Faith is also a power. It is so amazing to be out
on a mission and see that so much more as we need faith in everything,
because we 19/20 year olds have no clue what we're doing. But, this is
the Lord's work. {thank goodness!} anyways, MLC was amazing! I can't
even describe it, but we talked a lot about repentance, prayer,
church, and the Holy Ghost.

Also, MLC is pretty much a reunion with my favorite VC sisters. So
fun!! There are 5 full pros companionships and 2 VC/jail
companionships at MLC :) I'll attach a picture of us and Sister Vest❤️

Then, Friday was zone training day! Sister Hixon and I trained in our
zone this time, the Kansas City zone! I trained again on Faith in
Jesus Christ and also on the Holy Ghost's role in conversion. Then
afterwards, we convinced the elders in our district to go to
Chick-fil-A for district lunch :) :) so yummy!!

Directly after zone training we went on an exchange with the Raytown
sisters!! Sister Wilkey came with me to Kansas City! It was so fun!
Sister Wilkey is amazing, we served together at the VC for six months
together and now she is training a new missionary!

We had so many miracles while we were on exchanges! I'll share one of
them with you all:

We were talking a lot about strengthening out faith and we decided to
exercise our faith in finding. We prayed in the car where we needed to
be to find someone who was being prepared for this gospel. We had 20
minutes before we needed to head to our dinner. We looked at the map
and a certain street was sticking out to Sister Wilkey. Pocahontas
Lane ☺️ We went there, prayed again, and went to the house that was
sticking out to us and no one was there. We went to about 7 or so
other houses and no one was there. We decided to pray again and turn
to the scriptures to receive more specific revelation. After reading 5
or so verses, someone walked out of their house, we went and talked to
him and guess what! He wasn't interested. Haha. There was a family
inside that house still though, so we decided to go meet them. About 3
houses ago, we felt impressed to teach and testify of eternal
families. This man was interested in learning more about how that was
possible and set up a return appt. with him. He told us that he wished
that he could be with his two {adorable!} kids forever and we promised
him that he can be through Jesus Christ and the plan that we have
because of what He did for us. It was such an awesome experience for
both of us that strengthened our faith. What we learned from that
experience was that we need to exercise and act on our faith. Miracles
are wrought on faith, but not idle faith. Our diligence and
perseverance was required as well. It wasn't the first house we tried,
like we thought it would be. We needed to be tested a bit more. But
because we kept enduring and kept trying, we were able to see a small
miracle. That is life! We need to have faith in Jesus Christ in
this life. And if at times, it seems as if everything you are doing
isn't working, take a new approach. Pull out your scriptures and find
answers, be patient in the Lord's timing, and most importantly, keep
working. Keep trying. He loves you.

We had an awesome lesson with our YSA investigator, Marissa that night
too! We were teaching her faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism,
and the Holy Ghost. After teaching her those principles, Sister Wilkey
asked her how she was feeling about all this and she responded, "it
sounds really amazing, like something I want to be apart of!" Ahh!!
Those are the moments we, as missionaries, live for! She dips getting
baptized at the end of the month! We can't wait!!

And then, Sunday! One quick funny story for y'all for the week:

Testimony meetings are always an adventure but even more so when a
very soulful less activeish member gets up and after her testimony
announces to the congregation that she is in her third trimester and
that is impossible to not waddle. And proceeds to ask for advice from
the pulpit. Yeah... Haha, a skill that every missionary must learn is
to not laugh when every part of you wants to. Haha.

I love this work so much. I can't imagine my life without a mission. I
love my Savior and this time that I have to serve Him. He is my rock
and my salvation. I love my family and friends that support me and
send me love from all over. Thank you for everything. Until next week!

This week we have TWO exchanges back to back (aka. craziness) and lots
of appointments!!

Love,
Sister Morgan

Exchange week 1 .. Of many!

We also had our first of 5 exchanges this transfer in Friday! Exchanges are so fun! I was with Sister Murdoch in Independence 1st Ward for the day, which means I got to stay at the Willis for the night and spend time with all the VC sisters! It was so fun!

Sister Murdoch is an amazing missionary. We worked a lot on street contacts and we had a lesson in the evening with one of their investigators and she put two people on date for baptism! So amazing!
Their district meeting actually got rescheduled to be during our exchange also. One of the trainings that was given was on obedience but before the training, we were asked two questions to write down, ponder, and answer, that I LOVED. The questions were: How does God view me? and How would God introduce me? I really liked pondering those for those few minutes. It, not only, motivates us to be better and show our love more to the Savior, but we are also able to get more a glimpse into how our Heavenly Father sees us and our divine nature.
I know that God truly is our loving Heavenly Father. He knows us all so well and wants us to be happy in this life. I am so grateful for this gospel that He has provided us with.

And then Sister Hixon and I were reunited! And we spent all day pretty much in ghost town Grandview. Also, it's been like 45 degrees all week which has beyond amazing.

One of the many funny stories of the week: Sister Hixon and I were contacting a referral and trying to deliver the bible that they ordered to them when we got a glimpse into what area of town we were actually in.. Hahah it was like 2 in the afternoon.. So not even close to being late at night yet, and as we are knocking on the door, this cop car pulls in front of the house that we saw a few minutes ago. The cops just sit there for a moment.. Pull forward a bit and then back up again, roll down their window and then ask, "Do you two live around here?" "Nope!"
Then a bit later when we knocked on the door the second time (for our salvation of course) they ask again, "what are y'all doing around here then?" We explained that we were missionaries and that we were just dropping a bible off to this woman. And then they like start to leave and pull back again and ask so concerned.. "Are you two walking?" We assured them that we had a car and would get back in the car after that house. Hahaha. So funny!! So no.. Kansas City is not sketchy at all. Don't worry mom, everyone is always looking out for the two white girls in skirts with Bibles in our area, even the cops!

Seriously, Sister Hixon and I just have so much fun together. She is hilarious.

We are seeing so many miracles in our area, which is awesome. Being over the YSA is super fun too, we are teaching a few YSA people now, and they are so amazing! One is getting baptized in March!

Sorry, I'm super short on time this week, but I love you all so much. Keep reading the Book of Mormon. I know that that book is true and that it will bless your life so much as you strive to abide by the precepts in there.

Here's a throwback to the MTC though! .. Update.. Krispy Kreme is seriously on the other side of the street of our area. So depressing. We are gonna call the zone leaders one day and get permission to go :)

Sister MorganHello family!

This week has gone by so fast! And so much has happened!

On Wednesday we had our first district meeting. We are the only
sisters in the whole zone, which is soo different than before. Haha.
Here is our picture of our zone this afternoon at PDAY sports! One of
